Clinic to host dedication of "Legacy of Service Gallery" on Nov. 17

THE VILLAGES, Fla. - eTradeWire -- As communities pause to honor Veterans this November, OxyPeak Longevity Institute is inviting the public to reflect on another part of the Veteran story: the challenges many Veterans face long after their military service ends.

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, OxyPeak will host "Celebrating a Legacy of Service: OxyPeak Honors Our Veterans." The event will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at OxyPeak Longevity Institute, 2955 Brownwood Blvd., Suite 100, inside the Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood in The Villages.

The event begins with a social hour at 1 p.m. The Tri-County Women's Veterans will present the colors at 2 p.m. The dedication of OxyPeak's new Legacy of Service Gallery follows at 2:15 p.m. Guests are then invited to tour the clinic and learn more about the OPLI Veteran Cohort, OxyPeak's Veteran treatment program.

More than 450,000 U.S. service members were diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury between 2000 and 2021, and many others live with post-traumatic stress, moral injury, and other invisible wounds of service. These challenges can affect relationships, careers, sleep, and quality of life for years after military service ends.

Helping Veterans navigate those challenges was one of the reasons OxyPeak created the OPLI Veteran Cohort. The program gives eligible Veterans access to physician-directed hyperbaric oxygen therapy and other supportive services focused on recovery and quality of life.

The Legacy of Service Gallery is a permanent tribute to Veterans who have participated in the program. At its center is an American flag flown over the United States Capitol. Surrounding it are photographs honoring Veterans whose recovery journeys have become part of the OxyPeak story.

The Veteran Program was created by OxyPeak CEO Dion Atchison, a combat Veteran who served in Afghanistan.

"I've seen firsthand how military service can continue affecting people long after they come home." Atchison said. "The Legacy of Service Gallery is our way of recognizing those men and women and honoring the sacrifices they've made."

Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations including Koterra and AVID HBOT, OxyPeak is working to help more Veterans access care. OxyPeak's goal is to provide treatment opportunities for 100 Veterans by the end of 2027.

As more Veterans participate in the program, new photographs will be added to the Legacy of Service Gallery. Their stories will become part of an expanding tribute to both military service and the recovery journeys that follow.

Several local Veteran organizations are expected to participate in the Nov. 17 event. Community members are also invited to attend and help honor the Veterans represented in the Legacy of Service Gallery.
