Thiel College announces September 2020 Student of the Month honorees

Kohei Hayashi of Tokyo, Japan, and Jessica Peters of Emsworth, Pa., have been recognized as Thiel College Student of the Month honorees.

GREENVILLE, Pa. - eTradeWire -- Thiel College announces Kohei Hayashi '21, of Tokyo, Japan, and Jessica Peters '21, of Emsworth, Pa., as its first Student of the Month honorees for the 2020–2021 academic year.

The award is given to seniors. It is among the most prestigious student awards at Thiel College (https://www.thiel.edu/), with only about six students each semester earning the honor. The pair were honored for academic achievements and campus leadership.

Hayashi is an accounting major who plans to pursue a marketing career following graduation.

He is a member of the men's soccer team and is involved with Thiel's Conversation Leader Program, which hosts meetings between international students and a student leader to international students adjusting to college life in a foreign country. Hayashi is a 2016 graduate of Fukusaki High School. His mother, Seiko Hayashi, and father, Yoshiharu Hayashi, live in Tokyo, Japan.

Peters is an international business and business administration with a sports management concentration major. She is president of the Student Government Association Executive Board and is vice president of Alpha Xi Delta and philanthropy chair. She is past president of Lambda Sigma honor society. Peters is president of Order of Omega, which recognizes outstanding leadership in fraternity and sorority systems. Peters is vice president of Spanish Club and secretary of the Panhellenic Council. She also has been color guard captain of the Tomcat Marching Pride for three years.

She is also active in the Dietrich Honors Institute, Thiel Student Support Network, National Society of Leadership and Success, and Les Laurier, a senior honorary that has been established to give recognition to students who have a 3.0 GPA or better and who have shown outstanding service and leadership at the College. In her sophomore year, she was also the recipient of the Vira I. Heinz Women and Global Leadership Scholarship which enabled her to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain for four months in Summer 2019.

Peters, a 2017 graduate of Avonworth High School, is the daughter of Erin and Dale Peters Jr. She plans to pursue a career working with a major league sports team in game day management or project management.
