ImageWorks Creative Introduces Hybrid AI + Custom Website Design Approach
eTradeWire News/10852227
New approach uses AI to accelerate research, planning and production while preserving custom strategy, design, content, UX and development.
SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - eTradeWire -- ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — ImageWorks Creative has introduced a hybrid approach to custom website design that combines AI-assisted research and production with human-led strategy, creative direction and original web design.
The approach is designed to address a growing problem for businesses evaluating new websites: choosing between fast, inexpensive AI-generated websites and more involved traditional custom design.
ImageWorks believes the two approaches do not have to be mutually exclusive.
Instead, the agency uses artificial intelligence during parts of the process where it can reduce time and improve research — including competitive analysis, search research, content planning, site architecture, early wireframing and production assistance.

The client-facing website is still shaped by designers, strategists, writers and developers around the company's brand, customers and business goals.
"We don't think companies should have to choose between using modern AI tools and getting a website that actually feels custom," said Scott Margenau, CEO and Creative Director of ImageWorks Creative. "Use AI for what it's great at. Then put experienced people in charge of the decisions where judgment, creativity and brand differentiation matter."
ImageWorks begins projects by defining the site's audience, goals, navigation, search opportunities, content requirements and conversion paths before final visual design.
The creative team then develops layouts, typography, imagery, interaction and visual systems specifically for the brand rather than adapting the business to a pre-existing website theme.
The same custom website can then be deployed using WordPress, Drupal or, where appropriate, newer AI-managed web environments.

The model is intended to preserve the advantages of custom website design while reducing unnecessary production time.
It also reflects a larger shift in how ImageWorks views AI: not as a standalone website product, but as another layer in the agency's creative and technical toolkit.
"Businesses don't need AI for the sake of saying they used AI," Margenau said. "They need a better website. If AI helps us research faster, organize information better or reduce repetitive work, we should use it. But the finished product still needs to look and sound like that company — not everybody else."
ImageWorks has been designing and developing websites since 1997 and works with local businesses, professional services firms, B2B companies and organizations nationwide.
