"The Sight Unseen", a hybrid documentary-drama exploring a reported 1971 Bronx phenomenon involving a glowing Christian cross, makes its New York City television debut on MNN Lifestyle, bringing faith, family memories, and local history to audiences.
NEW YORK - eTradeWire -- "The Sight Unseen" will make its first television broadcast for the general public on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) Lifestyle on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET, followed by an encore presentation on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET.
Presented by Harlem Film House and produced by Perspexsion, this hybrid documentary-drama examines a reported 1971 Bronx phenomenon involving a glowing Christian cross through the lenses of religion, faith, spirituality, eyewitness testimony, and historical documentation. Writer and director Shawn Antoine II first learned of the story in 2016, when his great-aunt described it during a hospital visit. His mother, Sharon Wilson-Antoine, was six-years-old when the cross reportedly appeared. Years later, at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, he discovered a photograph of his mother, grandmother, and aunt published in The Amsterdam News, as part of Melvin Tapley's reporting on the phenomenon. Those family memories and archival discoveries became the basis for "The Sight Unseen".
More than 300 backers across the United States made "The Sight Unseen" possible for the New York City based production, raising $25,000 in one month. Local businesses donated food and space, while the production employed more than 60 Harlem community members as cast and crew, turning the family's account into a film.
