Morocco Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy Supports Z3EN's Venture

DETROIT - eTradeWire -- Z3EN,LLC, an emerging startup battery technology, has announced plans to construct its first gigafactory in Morocco. The Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment, and Digital Economy is supporting the project, providing manufacturing benefits within the country's automotive manufacturing base, which is home to various European automakers.

Construction of the gigafactory is scheduled to begin by the end of the third quarter of 2023, with completion expected by the beginning of the third quarter of 2024. The facility, strategically located in one of Morocco's key automotive manufacturing centers, will have a production capacity ranging from 5 GWh to 8 GWh.

Z3EN's gigafactory initiative is driven by its proprietary organic polyglycolic acid (PGA) battery technology. This innovative alternative aims to challenge the dominance of lithium-ion batteries in the electric vehicle market by offering a safer and more environmentally friendly solution. The extensive use of lithium-ion batteries presents various challenges, including resource extraction, disposal issues, and potential human rights abuses in the supply chain.
