Wallwork Slash CO2 Emissions by Streamlining Deliveries and Reducing Individual Customer Journeys
eTradeWire News/10795181
By saving the equivalent of 255 trips around the circumference of the planet, Wallwork Heat Treatment's integrated transportation for the pick-up and delivery of orders is saving over 2,947 tonnes of CO2.
BURY, U.K. - eTradeWire -- This is the finding of two placement students from Sheffield Hallam University, Mya Turner, marketing intern, and Adam Griffin, engineering student.
By offering an integrated transport service, the company ensures efficient pick-up and delivery of customer orders, speeding turnaround, cutting down on unnecessary journeys and minimising the distance goods are transported.
Mya Turner explained, "Having joined the company with Adam, last summer, there has been a lot to learn. The company is increasingly looking to reduce the environmental impact of the business. Transportation is something we could gather data from and analyse. Showing customers how they help reduce CO2 emissions by using Wallwork transport, rather than making individual journeys, will allow them to use the figures in their own CO2 impact statements. We are going to make this data available to them securely through the Wallwork online customer portal and mobile App."

The figures were calculated from data over the financial year 23/24. Wallwork transport covered over 1.4 million miles – 56 times around earth. If customers transported orders individually, to and from Wallwork, it would have been 7,563,135 miles. This is a saving of 6,153,135 miles – 255 times around earth or 2,947 tonnes of CO2. This equates to 48,729 tree seedlings grown for 10 years or the electricity usage of 396 homes in one year.
Group Director, Siemon Collins added, "As well as access via the website, we have developed and launched the Wallwork App, so customers can gain access to CO2 data alongside booking transport more efficiently. Mya and Adam have done a fantastic job in collating and analysing a large amount of data and putting it into a digestible form. I also want to thank customers who use our transport service – they are playing a vital part in this. Not only are they getting a super-efficient service, but they also now know their CO2 saving contribution too."
