NEWARK, N.J. - eTradeWire -- Sandra Bleckman to Chair Hospitality Committee for Newark Career Technical Education Network

Sandra Bleckman, Vice President of Foundation Development and Relations for Landmark Hospitality has been named Chair of the Hospitality Committee for the Newark Career Technical Education Network. She oversees the Art of Hospitality-Path to Success, a newly formed not-for-profit school dedicated to providing hospitality training and career paths for low to moderate income individuals, opportunity youth and under/unemployed persons. The school will be located in Plainfield and is designed to empower individuals while addressing the growing demand for qualified hospitality workers.

Sandra serves as an adjunct professor in the hospitality programs at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Hudson County Community College.  Sandra is a member of the Essex County Disabilities Issues Committee and sits on the Board of the NJ Tourism Industry Association as well as EZ Ride/Meadowlink. She is a past board member of the National Association of Catering and Events.  In her new role as the Chair of the Hospitality Committee for the Newark CTE Network, Sandra will facilitate industry engagement with Newark schools that offer Culinary and Hospitality programs. The committee will focus on supporting the areas of 1. Structured Learning Experiences, 2. Greater Career Exposure to students and parents via presentations, site tours and educational attainment opportunities, 3. And help strengthen the connection among CTE programs, industry and employers.

The Newark Career and Technical Education (CTE) Network brings together CTE educators and professionals across sectors, along with industry leaders, to develop shared, Newark-centric articulation of CTE. The CTE Network targets secondary and post-secondary education tracks, focuses on programming, practice and policy in a meaningful way in order to improve post-graduation outcomes and opportunities.

CareerWorks and Schools That Can Co-Facilitate the Newark Career and Technical (CTE) Network to raise the awareness within the Newark education community about CTE programming available, connect educators to information about in-demand industries and occupations, expand CTE programs into more in-demand occupations within the regional labor market and increase career exploration for middle school and high school students by improving linkages between industry and education through the application of classroom learning.
