The event raising funds for UMDF will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Pineville Lake Park.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - eTradeWire -- The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) is proud to announce the 2024 Energy For Life Walk - Charlotte, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for mitochondrial disease, will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Pineville Lake Park, bringing together families, friends and supporters to walk for a cure.
Since its inception in 1996, UMDF has funded more than $16 million in mitochondrial disease research, significantly advancing treatments designed to alleviate symptoms and slow the progression of mitochondrial disease. This year's Energy For Life Walk promises to continue that legacy of hope and progress.
Mitochondrial disease affects an estimated 1 in 5,000 people in the United States, making it one of the largest disease populations without any FDA-approved treatment. Furthermore, according to UMDF, over 250 affected families are in the Charlotte region of North Carolina alone. The Energy For Life Walk is not just a fundraising event; it is a beacon of hope for these families.
