Ukrainian Association of Washington State Presents "For Ukraine: Art of Freedom" Exhibition
eTradeWire News/10716143
The in-person exhibition that will take place at the Schack Art Gallery in Everett, WA offers one of a kind chance for Washingtonians to see original pieces by famous Ukrainian artists.
RENTON, Wash. - eTradeWire -- The Ukrainian Association of Washington State is partnering with the Schack Art Center on the "For Ukraine: Art of Freedom" exhibition showcasing Ukrainian artists. Participant list includes famous artists such as Tata Kolesnik, Yurii Nagulko, Ganna Bogachuk, Yuliia Kravchenko, Iryna Kalyuzhna, and others. Partial proceeds from the exhibition will go directly to the artists and the Ukrainian Association of Washington to raise funds for neonatal intensive care units (NICU) and generators to power them.
When: January 19 - February 18, 2023
Where: Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett, WA
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, many were forced to leave their homes, and paintings are sent not only from Ukraine but also from Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Netherland and the United States. The art was delivered to the Schack Art Center, despite challenges with transportation due to bombing and limited electricity in Ukraine. These are also the conditions in which some Ukrainian artists currently work.

Local and temporarily relocated Ukrainian artists were also invited to participate. Some of them offer small workshops with a goal to teach the local community traditional Ukrainian crafts and help fundraise for humanitarian causes in Ukraine.
"Today, when Ukraine is devastated by the war, we want to show you how strong and talented Ukrainians artists are. Ukrainian culture was suppressed by the Russian Empire for centuries and our artists have so much to say and to show right now. We are inspired by the support and contributions from our local community. It's an honor to work with the Schack Art Center and share Ukrainian culture in this exhibition and we sincerely hope that Washingtonians will love it," said Viktoriia Nikitiuk, UAWS volunteer.
The opening reception for the exhibition will take place on January 19, 5-8pm and February 4, 2:30-6pm at the Schack Art Center in Everett. UAWS is inviting all community members to join for Ukrainian appetizers and traditional singers and bandurists. There will also be an opportunity to purchase small handmade crafts and souvenirs.
