"We've managed to survive some difficult times for the motoring industry," said Director Brian Bennett. "Obviously COVID had a serious impact on the automotive sector. Many people were barely using their cars, so buying a new one would have been completely off the agenda for them.

"In more recent times there has been a shortage of semiconductors. Circuit boards are widely used in the modern hi-tech car, and suppliers were prioritising manufacturers of home entertainment devices. This left the car manufacturing industry with a serious shortage, and the supply chain was disrupted in a way it had never been before.
