LONDON - eTradeWire -- Travel recruitment cools in June as summer hits
C&M Travel Recruitment's Activity Index – June 2024
The number of new travel jobs being made available fell slightly at the start of the summer, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.
The total fell by a small two per cent from May 2024 and by 26 per cent from last June.
Similarly, the number of new candidates searching for new jobs in the travel industry fell back by 22 per cent last month after reaching a 2024-high in May. June's total number was also down by 11 per cent from the same month in 2023.
There was also a decrease in the number of people being placed in new travel jobs, with a 27 per cent month-on-month fall and a 35 per cent dip compared to June 2023.

Speaking about the stats, Barbara Kolosinska, Managing Director at C&M Travel Recruitment (http://www.candm.co.uk/), said: "Summer is always a slow period for travel recruitment with many potential jobseekers and decision makers away on holiday. And with the Euros, Wimbledon and the Olympics offering even more distractions, this summer was never likely to break any records for jobs activity.
"But of course not everyone is away on holiday, so this creates a great opportunity for travel companies to snap up experienced talent while their competitors temporarily delay their recruitment plans.
"The run-up to a general election also always quietens the jobs market. Now that the votes are in and we have a new government in place, we envisage that things may pick-up as we enter the peak of summer."

All figures are drawn from the month's new vacancies advertised with C&M Travel Recruitment.
C&M Travel Recruitment was established in 1998 and is the largest and most successful specialist travel recruitment company in the UK.
