Soundtrack/Fusion Composer's "Cinemusque" features 12 tracks dedicated to cinema's legendary directors.

MIAMI - eTradeWire -- Jazz, Fusion and Soundtrack composer, Tom Alexander's latest work, CINEMUSIQUE: A Tribute to 12 Great Film Directors, releases on Friday, December 10, 2021. The recording features twelve original compositions dedicated to legendary filmmakers like Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Federico Fellini, Stanley Kubrick and several others.

This is Alexander's sixth studio album to date, which includes his work with the fusion-jazz band he co-founded, Earth Code. His "Dreams In Blue" recording released in 2020, and the digital rerelease of "What's Ahead?" became available earlier this year.

"Cinemusique" has an interesting history. It was intended to follow Alexander's critically acclaimed 2001 release, "What's Ahead?" which was a solo piano effort and was featured nationally on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday. Alexander entered the studio shortly after that album debuted, and recorded "Cinemusique." However, the original masters disappeared. What remained were dubs several generations removed, which Alexander refused to release. In November of 2020, the masters were located and the tracks were restored to their original condition.

"Those tracks resurfacing out of nowhere was a surprise I never could have imagined," Alexander said recently. "It was a real gift from the musical gods."

Alexander plays piano and keyboards on the recording as well as all the other instruments. Each track is dedicated to some of Alexander's favorite filmmakers. "Growing up in my dad's movie theatre in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, was not only a joy, but an education," Alexander added. "I saw all kinds of films, and they had a lasting impact on me — not only the directors, but the composers of the films' soundtracks. People like Bernard Herrmann, Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, John Williams and so many others, resonated with me from my youth."

Alexander, who resides in South Florida, has composed for television and film, is a screenwriter and hosts or co-hosts several popular podcasts.

"Cinemusique" releases digitally across most online music platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, Tidal and others. www.tomalexandermusic.com
