TARDIS Triumph: Chicago Area Residents Claim Doctor Who Record
eTradeWire News/10776120
CHICAGO - eTradeWire -- In a remarkable display of fandom and dedication, a father and son duo from Chicago have made history by confirming that they have enough to break the Guinness World Record for the largest Doctor Who memorabilia collection.
The meticulous count of their Doctor Who memorabilia collection (that is lovingly called The Library) revealed an astounding 7,467 items that adhered to Guinness World Record guidelines out of a possible 21,000 items. This impressive feat surpasses the previous record of 6,641 items, achieved by Lily Connors of Pontypridd, UK, as verified by Guinness World Records on June 20, 2016.
Lee Thompson, the father, is a thirty-year resident of the Chicago area. Lee's passion for the iconic British sci-fi series began during his childhood where he watched it on his local PBS station. William Thompson, the son, is a twenty-six-year resident of the Chicago Area and is currently a student at the University of North Texas G Brint Ryan School of Business. His passion for the iconic British sci-fi also series began during his childhood. As Lee introduced William to the show through the 2005 revival, and William was instantly hooked.

"We're thrilled to have been allowed to have our collection verified by Guinness," says William, "It's not just about the items; it's about the memories, the adventures, and the joy that Doctor Who has brought into our lives. Being part of this fandom has allowed both my Dad (Lee) and I to meet some larger-than-life folks, and we're proud to call some of them our friends" Together, Lee and William have not only broken records but also strengthened their father-son bond through their shared passion. Their achievement serves as an inspiration to fans worldwide, proving that dedication, collaboration, and a touch of time travel can lead to extraordinary accomplishments.
As Lee and William prepare their final submission, they eagerly await Guinness World Record's final decision. If you're a journalist, blogger, or Doctor Who enthusiast interested in sharing their story, please reach out. Lee and William would be delighted to learn about any articles, interviews, or features that celebrate their passion for the iconic series.
