Susan G. Komen® Miami/Ft. Lauderdale More Than Pink Walk™ Takes Place October 12

Thousands Will Race to Support Life-Saving Breast Health Programs in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Area

MIAMI - eTradeWire -- The MORE THAN PINK Walk brings together an empowered community of hope to raise funds for breast cancer treatment, patient advocacy and lifesaving research. Now in its second year, Susan G. Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale will hold its Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk™ on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Bayfront Park.

Last year, Komen debuted the new event (formerly known as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®) with an overwhelmingly positive response.  More importantly, the local affiliate has raised over $616,000 in the fight against breast cancer. The MORE THAN PINK Walk ensures that participants have a clear understanding of the value they provide in Susan G. Komen's overall mission and how their fundraising makes an impact in our community.

The MORE THAN PINK Walk is sponsored Bank of America, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Publix Kellogg's, South Florida Ford, Miami Cancer Institute, Intercontinental Doral, CVS Pharmacy y Más, Navarro Discount Pharmacy, Team FootWorks and Ryder.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide. In the United States, one case of breast cancer is diagnosed every two minutes, and one woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes. A lack of health insurance and living in lower-income areas are both associated with lower survival rates among breast cancer patients, as well as the presence of other illnesses, unequal access to care and disparities in treatment.
