NEWTON, Mass. - eTradeWire -- Dr. Noah Orenstein, from The Dental Specialists in Newton, Massachusetts, just started providing charitable volunteer work with the Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program. Dr. Orenstien saw his first patient in this program, and made her a full upper denture so that she could go back to living her life normally.

The AOHSC Program was created in response to then-Vice President Joseph Biden's 2013 call to action for innovative public-private partnerships to help Holocaust survivors live the rest of their life with dignity and respect.

Almost ⅓ of Holocaust survivors live in poverty, making it impossible for them to access the support and services they require.

The program has been providing pro bono care to the most economically vulnerable Holocaust survivors since 2015, as well as those of any faith who are survivors of Nazi persecution. It has provided over $4.8 million in donated dental care.

Dr. Noah Orenstein says he wanted to join the dental volunteer program because "My grandparents were Holocaust survivors and were fortunate to have made a good life for themselves when they immigrated to the United States. I understand how there are many immigrants that come to this country that do not have the means to afford dental care. Joining this program provides me an opportunity to connect with my family history and provide my expertise in helping a community of needy people who have struggled for so much of their life".

Dr. Orenstein just saw his first Holocaust survivor patient through the AOHSC Program. He said that this patient had "suffered with ugly and poor fitting partial dentures for many years. Her remaining natural teeth were falling apart." After 5 years struggling to find a dentist who could find a good solution for her, she found the AOHSC program. After an initial consultation, it was determined that it would be best to make the patient a new upper full denture. With the upper full denture, the Holocaust survivor had new teeth that fit well and looked good.  https://www.dentalspecialistsma.com/dentures/ (https://www.dentalspecialistsma.com/dentures/?utm_source=prlog.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=seo)

Dr. Orenstein says that he felt glad that he was able to "find a restoration option for this patient who had struggled to eat for many years. After receiving her brand new denture, the patient immediately felt more confident both in her ability to chew and smile."
