Two of Summit County, Colorado's largest employers reinforce mission of first-ever Colorado non-profit health insurance purchasing cooperative by offering their innovative plans to their employees.

KEYSTONE, Colo. - eTradeWire -- Peak Health Alliance, a Summit County non-profit health insurance purchasing cooperative, announced today that Summit County Government and the Town of Breckenridge will be offering Peak Health Alliance plans to their employees effective January 1st.

"We're excited to be a part of Peak," said Rick Holman, Breckenridge's Town Manager. "It's an innovative solution to bringing down costs and it comes with benefits for our employees."

"Peak Health Alliance is the product of unprecedented collaboration and creative problem solving on one of the toughest, most complicated issues we face," Summit County Commissioner Elisabeth Lawrence said. "We have moved the needle on health insurance options for our community, and we're proud to offer this exciting product to our own employees."

Both organizations helped underwrite the non-profit Peak and, as two of the largest employers in the County, provided claims data necessary to help Peak begin negotiations with providers.

"We're grateful for the contributions of Breckenridge and Summit County's elected leaders and staff to help make our plans more competitive and comprehensive," said Tamara Pogue-Drangstveit, CEO of Peak Health Alliance. She continued, "We would not be in a position to offer the plans that we are without their involvement and, with their membership, they've reinforced the importance of our mission."

In addition to plans designed for self-insured organizations, Peak Health Alliance is offering 2020 coverage for both small business and individuals.

2020 rates will be released by the State on Monday. Businesses will be able to get plan quotes as early as October, and individuals can enroll during open enrollment beginning November 1. "We expect rates to be attractive to small business owners, their employees, and to individual purchasers—who have been impacted the most by the cost of health insurance in Summit County," said Pogue-Drangstveit.
