Stevens Construction wins at the Lee Building Industry Association Industry Awards

FORT MYERS, Fla. - eTradeWire -- Stevens Construction Inc. earned four awards at the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) Industry Awards including the highest honor of the night, the Contractor of the Year.

A panel of nationwide judges named Stevens Construction Contractor of the Year based on criteria such as the company's achievement of goals, client relations and community responsibilities. This is the 12th year Stevens Construction has received this honor.

Propelling the company's special projects division was among Stevens Construction's goals. Over the last year, the Stevens Construction special projects team had a 73% revenue increase. Special projects include tenant improvements, additions, renovations, repairs and specialty projects under $1.5M. Led by Joe Cimilluca, the special projects division currently has 25 projects under construction.

In the best renovation category, Stevens Construction earned a Summit Award for Clive Daniel Home, located at 8650 Gladiolus Dr., Unit 200, in Fort Myers. Stevens Construction transformed a 48,000-square-foot vacant grocery and liquor store into a new showroom for Clive Daniel Home, providing a convenient destination for its island clientele. Completed by the special projects division, the project included complete interior demolition and redesign of the floorplan to accommodate a design center, receiving and warehouse storage, café with kitchen and offices.

Completed in five months as scheduled, Stevens Construction also enhanced the exterior, which included adding a welcoming entrance with decorative awnings, landscaping and painting of the entire building.

Stevens Construction won a Summit Award for best health care project for Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida (OSSWF), located at 14601 Hope Center Loop in Fort Myers. The 60,000-square-foot medical office houses 60 exam rooms to serve its 16 physicians and 20 mid-level health care practitioners and offers a full suite of onsite services with six X-Ray rooms, six procedure rooms and two MRI suites, which required the construction of a specialized room protected by radio frequency shielding to contain the electric and magnetic transmissions of the MRI.

Coconut Point Ford, located at 22400 S. Tamiami Trail in Estero, earned a Summit Award in the best industrial project category. To support its growing commercial vehicle business, Coconut Point Ford contracted with Stevens Construction to build a new 13,477-square-foot building to the existing campus of Coconut Ford. The dealership remained in operation, requiring constant coordination and communication to ensure operations were not disrupted.

Stevens Construction has earned 73 Summit Awards since the program began in 2006.

The Summit Awards program recognizes BIA members who have obtained an outstanding level of success and demonstrated superior professionalism in the commercial construction industry throughout the year. The projects were judged for quality of construction, challenges, timeliness of completion, client satisfaction and safety.
