Six Florida Organizations Receive Grants to Advance Family Literacy Programs

MAITLAND, Fla. - eTradeWire -- Florida Literacy Coalition, with generous support from the Kislak Family Foundation, has awarded $60,000 in grants to six organizations across Florida to establish or further develop family literacy programs. This initiative recognizes that parents are their children's first and most important teachers and aims to break the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy and limited education.
The following organizations each received a $10,000 grant through this initiative:
These grants support community-based programs designed to empower families and promote lifelong learning. Funded programs integrate, 1) Adult basic education and literacy or English as a Second Language (ESL) skills training for parents, 2) Age-appropriate educational activities for young children, 3) Interactive literacy activities that engage both parents and children.
