Rotary Clubs Partner to Expand Food Pantry Storage with $5,180 Grant
eTradeWire News/10823650
BUNNELL, Fla. - eTradeWire -- The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach and its Bunnell Satellite Club have partnered with the Care Cupboard Food Pantry to address growing food insecurity in the community through a $5,180 grant that has significantly expanded the pantry's storage capacity and reach.
Thanks to a collaborative grant funded equally by local Rotary clubs, Rotary District 6970, and the Rotary Foundation, a 10' x 15' outdoor storage shed now stands at the Care Cupboard Food Pantry in Bunnell (205 N Pine St.), providing much-needed space to store donated food for our community. The shed was delivered on November 1, officially dedicated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 12, and beautifully landscaped on November 16 by the First Baptist Christian Academy of Palm Coast boys soccer team, whose volunteer spirit exemplifies the power of youth service in action.
The new storage facility has provided crucial additional space for non-perishable supplies and temperature-stable items, allowing the pantry to increase its indoor food storage capacity by 27%. This expansion directly translates to serving more families in need – increasing weekly service from 1,300 people (including 375 children) to 1,495 people weekly, representing a 15% increase in community reach.

"This partnership exemplifies Rotary's commitment to addressing basic human needs in our community," said Bob Snyder, President of the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach. "By working together with our Bunnell Satellite Club and the Care Cupboard, we're creating a sustainable solution that will help feed 195 additional community members each week," added Snyder.
The Care Cupboard Food Pantry operates every Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Bunnell, serving as a vital resource for families facing food insecurity throughout Flagler County. The additional storage capacity will enable the pantry to maintain larger inventories and better serve the growing demand for food assistance in the region.
"The collaboration between both Rotary clubs demonstrates the power of community partnership," noted Sandra Shank, a member of the Bunnell Satellite club. "This grant represents our shared commitment to ensuring no family in our community goes hungry," she added.
If someone has a heart for giving back locally and globally, they are invited to visit https://www.flaglerbeachrotary.org/ to learn about joining the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach and making a positive difference in our community and beyond.
