EASTON, Md. - eTradeWire -- Candle Light Cove's new Resident Wellness Director Gwen Fox brings dedication, a strong work ethic and a familiarity with the recent retiree whom she replaced at the senior living community.

"Gwen comes to us with a tremendous energy and clinical acumen. She's brought teamwork and leadership abilities to Candle Light Cove. We're excited for her to be a part of our team and to strengthen the communication among families."

    Fox has resided on the Eastern Shore for 44 years. She brings a background that includes 22 years in nursing to her role. She received her Nursing Degree from Wesley College in Delaware.

    "It has been an extremely amazing change for me because of how cohesive this team is at Candle Light Cove," Fox said. "The most exciting part is how this team shows every day that the staff and residents here are the priority."

    Fox moved into the position held during the past five years by Darlene Young, who is a first cousin of Fox. Young retired as Resident Wellness Director.

    "Darlene has been a tremendous asset to the Candle Light Cove community," Scheele said. "The impact she has had on the lives of so many over the five years she spent with us is immeasurable. Her caring, compassion and dedication will be difficult to replicate and she will truly be missed."

    Fox said Candle Light Cove has adapted to guidelines and restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and has put the health and safety of its team, residents and their families at the forefront. Her nursing background already had helped in that area.

    "I have been a nurse for over 22 years with many, many different areas of practice," Fox said. "The past four years, I was part of a long-term care facility and this is where my compassion grew for the geriatric population."

     Fox's ability to relate to team members and residents is another asset she has brought to Candle Light Cove.

    "My goals are to have more communication with the families and residents to get to know them better," she said. "I am learning the policies, practices and processes that are in place and these will guide me in the best direction. With change always comes the opportunity for growth."

    Fox has three grown children, two granddaughters and a grandson on the way. She currently resides in Ridgely, Maryland.
