NEW ORLEANS - Feb. 8, 2019 - eTradeWire -- Rabadash Records 35th Anniversary Celebration - 'Rabadash Blast' - Set For Sunday, February 17th At New Orleans Rock 'N' Bowl

Rabadash Records, one of the oldest independent labels in the country, will be kicking off the celebration of it's 35th anniversary year with the Rabadash Bash, at 6pm on Sunday, February 17th at New Orleans' own Mid-City Lanes Rock 'N' Bowl. The label's primary focus since their very first release has been a commitment to preserving the music of New Orleans and southern Louisiana with works by legacy artists and new performers who embody the Crescent City's rich musical traditions.

Rabadash started almost by accident; it wasn't even conceived until label co-founder John Autin found himself on the outside looking in on a spoiled album deal. "We just fell into it," Autin recalls."I started Rabadash with (singer) Nora Wixtead, who was my girlfriend at the time. We had negotiated a deal for Nora's album, were ready to sign, and the label called us up at the last second and told us they were signing a different singer instead. Since we already had all the tapes, the artwork and everything, we decided to start our own damn label! We immediately recorded (legendary piano player and singer) Al Broussard, who was almost 78 at the time and had never been recorded before even though he'd been playing on Bourbon Street since the 1920s. Those two records came out in 1984 and we were off and running. We started off doing two or three releases a year, but we had to go dark for a while due to Katrina; we didn't do anything for a few years, but we came back about 10 years ago. Three years ago we partnered with studio builder Dirk Billie and built Rabadash Recording Studio, and now we're able to do  six releases a year and record other non-Rabadash artists in our world class facility."

Not only will the Rabadash Blast be an anniversary party, it will also celebrate the label's two latest releases - Waylon Thibodeaux's Here We Go Again, and It's My Turn, the comeback release from multiple Grammy and American Music Award nominated songwriter Michael "The Sheik" O'Hara - both of which will be available nationwide Monday, February 18th. Both artists will be headlining at the show, along with the label's latest signing, Slim Harpo Blues Pioneer Award winner John Lisi (and his band DeltaFunk!). Additional guests from the Rabadash family set to take the stage include: Big Al Carson & The Bluesmasters, Big Daddy 'O', Serabee & the Blues Revival Band, KASS & John Autin, Tom McDermott & Chloe Feoranzo, Dave Ferrato, and the Piano Maniacs. And, as a special thank you for 35 years of support, the first 200 people to arrive will receive free Rabadash CDs.
