This Dot launches Accountability Ladder to help conference organizers respond to Code of Conduct violations

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - eTradeWire -- This Dot, a prominent women run development consultancy, unveils the Accountability Ladder, a tool to help conference organizers respond to Code of Conduct violations.

Many conferences and open source projects have adopted Codes of Conduct over recent years in an effort to make their spaces more welcoming to a growing number of developers from historically underrepresented demographics.  Despite this being a wonderful step, organizers are often unprepared to respond to Code of Conduct violations promptly and consistently.

To help address this issue, This Dot pooled the perspectives of event organizers and open-source project maintainers to, in the words of Operations Manager Eva Howe, "draft a living document that organizers can use to guide them when responding to Code of Conduct violations, from microaggressions to criminal acts."

Not only a guide for combating negative behavior, the Accountability Ladder is also prefaced by a list of resources on how to be an effective ally in tech spaces, which the company hopes will grow with contributions from those in the open-source community.
