Project Petals Partners With Generac To Bring Solar Power To Community Green Spaces Throughout NYC

eTradeWire News/10718245
NEW YORK - eTradeWire -- Project Petals, an organization focused on the environmental improvement and climate equity of BIPOC and under-resourced communities, announces its new partnership with sustainable energy firm Generac. Founded in 2015 by Alicia White, Project Petals works to create, restore, and improve green spaces, particularly in communities that will be disproportionately impacted by climate change. This new partnership brings solar power to community gardens dealing with New York food insecurity. As we approach Black History Month in February, Project Petals, a Black sustainable-led and climate resilience nonprofit, leads the way in introducing, developing, and executing environmental solutions that alleviate the environmental and social-economic divide and revitalize neighborhood spaces for public use.

These generators with be used to power our green spaces, food programs, and community-led events. The green machinery will also power tools used in the garden as this will make a difference in our 2023 educational programming. Generac's generous donation of four solar generators and five solar panels has already been implemented at Project Petals' community-led green spaces. Paradise Garden in Jamaica, Queens received its first Generac generator in November. The rest of the generator will be distributed to Project Petals green spaces throughout 2023.

Generac aims to be a reliable and affordable power source for families and communities through the production and distribution of sustainable energy solutions. Generac's vision is to work towards complete renewable energy independence and sees such green spaces as Project Petals as a key asset in fulfilling that environmental goal.

"I am happy to partner with Generac to bring solar power to NYC communities and environmental leaders working to improve their environment and fight food insecurity. Generac is aiding Project Petals to provide the communities and green spaces we work in with the tools they need to help mitigate the impact of climate change," stated Executive Director Alicia White.
