Project holocene endangered animal drawings opens at NTSEC, the National Taiwan Science Education Center in Taipei, Taiwan

Artist Russ Ronat does live drawing in the museum lobby to bring attention to endangered cats in Taiwan.

NEW YORK - Nov. 15, 2018 - eTradeWire -- Project Holocene is a selection of large, mixed media drawings of endangered animals created by artist Russ Ronat. It is also an international photography collaboration. The show, featuring original drawings and photographs,  will be on display at the NTSEC in Taipei, Taiwan from November 17th, 2018 until March 3rd, 2019.  The National Taiwan Science Education Center is an educational center in Shilin District, Taipei, Taiwan. The mission of the museum is to promote education of applied science in Taiwan.  The museum will be presenting a new permanent exhibit on endangered animals as part of this show.

Ronat will be creating a drawings of leopard cat and a clouded leopard as a live drawing display to raise awareness for these animals in Taiwan.

The leopard cat is on the edge of extinction in Taiwan. As a result of habitat loss, there are less than 500 cats remaining on the island.

The Formosa clouded leopard is endemic to Taiwan but is considered extinct on the island.  Global Wildlife Conservation, a nonprofit based in Austin, Texas is working with other groups on breeding and training clouded leopards with the aim of reintroducing the leopards into the wild in Taiwan.

"It is my hope that my drawings can remind the viewer of the beauty and fragility of each of these animals.
It is the goal of the project to play a part in inspiring the change that is needed to ensure conservation", says artist Russ Ronat.

Drawings of Taiwanese endangered animals like the black-faced spoonbill, the Eurasian otter and the Formosan black bear will all be included works in the show display.

About
Project Holocene is a series of 60 large mixed media drawings of endangered animals and a photography collaboration.  The photography show these drawings projected and then photographed on different buildings and architecture around the world.  Project holocene is also currently on display at the Phoenix Zoo, in Phoenix Arizona and the Anthony Horth Gallery in Soho, NYC.  Russ Ronat is an artist originally from Johannesburg, South Africa that lives and works in NYC. He has been a resident artist at galleries in Los Angeles and Miami and is the creator of Project Holocene.
