LONG BEACH, N.Y. - eTradeWire -- Phatronics Unveils the Lofiatron: A Modern Tape-Based Instrument Inspired by the Legendary Mellotron

[City, State] — [Date] — Phatronics is proud to announce the release of the Lofiatron, a hand-built, custom musical instrument that transforms any cassette tape into a fully playable sonic palette. Blending vintage tape character with modern circuit-bent creativity, the Lofiatron opens an entirely new frontier for lo-fi artists, ambient composers, sound designers, and experimental musicians of all kinds.

Born from a deep admiration for the iconic Mellotron—most famously heard on The Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever"—the Lofiatron pays homage to tape-driven instrumentation while reinventing it for today's creators. Instead of relying on fixed tape libraries, the Lofiatron empowers musicians to load any cassette, instantly turning personal recordings, found sounds, field samples, and forgotten mixtapes into expressive musical voices.

A New Kind of Tape Instrument

At the heart of the Lofiatron is a meticulously modified cassette deck, circuit-bent by hand to unlock an array of playable textures and performance features. Each unit offers:

• Real analog pitch manipulation for dreamy warble and tape-drift effects

Whether crafting hazy lo-fi beats, lush ambient soundscapes, cinematic textures, or experimental noise art, musicians will find that the Lofiatron becomes less a device and more an ever-evolving collaborator.

Inspired by the Past. Built for the Future.

"The original Mellotron changed music forever by letting artists play tape," says Phatronics' founder. "The Lofiatron brings that same magic into the modern world—but with the freedom for anyone to use their own tapes and shape completely personal sounds. It's nostalgia, innovation, and pure creative chaos in one box."
