Perle IRG Routers Deliver Reliable Connectivity for Smart Transit Systems
eTradeWire News/10822111
PRINCETON, N.J. - eTradeWire -- Smart transit systems give cities a powerful tool to reduce traffic congestion. By leveraging cellular networks, transit authorities can analyze massive data streams to optimize routes, lower emissions, and improve rider experience. At the heart of these systems is a reliable cellular router, and Perle Systems aims to demonstrate why its IRG Cellular Routers set the standard for smart transit connectivity.
Smart transit systems rely on continuous streams of data to manage capacity, monitor location, and ensure safety. But maintaining secure, high-speed connectivity on moving buses and trains requires more than a standard cellular router. It demands industrial technology designed to meet the rigorous demands of transit environments:
These capabilities have been proven necessary for transit authorities to maintain secure, stable connections critical for real-time data exchange and operational responsiveness.

Real-World Validation: Hanoi's Smart Bus System
When SunIvy International set out to build a smart bus network for Hanoi, they needed a connectivity solution they could trust. Their team selected a Perle IRG Router for testing, and the performance was outstanding. Acting as the central communication hub, the IRG LTE Router connects multiple onboard systems. Fare readers and door-mounted cameras transmit data to the router via Wi-Fi, which then relays this information along with GPS coordinates to the city's monitoring center over a cellular network. This real-time data exchange enables transit operators to dynamically adjust routes and deploy additional buses to meet changing demand.
"We need a cellular router because buses and trains are constantly moving, so a stable 4G network connection is essential for transmitting data to the [operations] center," says Mr. Bui Van Giap, SunIvy's government account manager in Hanoi. "This is an important component of our solution that helps us manage passenger traffic on the bus through an automated payment system and track the location of the bus along its route. The IRG LTE Router works very well. It has good quality and high stability."
