People's Party Demands: Kick Cash Out of Wisconsin's Highest Court
eTradeWire News/10781772
STURTEVANT, Wis. - eTradeWire -- The Wisconsin People's Party, a newly formed progressive workers' party, calls for fully publicly funded Wisconsin Supreme Court elections. This initiative aims to safeguard the nonpartisan nature of the judiciary and ensure equal access to justice for all Wisconsinites.
"This is about the integrity of our judicial system" said Dean South, spokesperson for the Wisconsin People's Party. "By removing private money from Supreme Court races, we can help ensure that our justices are beholden to the law and the people, not to wealthy donors or special interests."
The campaign focuses on several key points:
1. Eliminating the influence of private money in judicial elections
2. Ensuring all qualified candidates have an equal opportunity to run for office
3. Preserving the nonpartisan nature of the judiciary
4. Increasing public trust in the Supreme Court
The proposed public funding model would provide equal funds to all qualifying candidates, eliminating the need for private fundraising. This approach aims to reduce the appearance of conflicts of interest and allow justices to focus on interpreting the law rather than securing financial support for their campaigns.

"Nonpartisan courts are essential for a functioning democracy," Dean South added. "When judges are perceived as political actors, it erodes public confidence in the entire legal system. Our proposal aims to restore that confidence."
The Wisconsin People's Party calls on state legislators to introduce and support legislation to implement this public funding model. The party also encourages Wisconsin residents to contact their representatives and voice their support for this crucial reform.
