The page features those in their 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond who are enjoying life's later stage.

CAMARILLO, Calif. - eTradeWire -- Meet The Amazings, a Facebook page that celebrates older people who are leading rewarding and fulfilling lives, recently highlighted its 700th "Amazing." The page features those in their 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond who are enjoying life's later stage.

A recent "Amazing" is Bette Brussel, who at 100, broke a record this year in her age group by swimming the fastest 400-metre freestyle, the 50-metre breaststroke and the 50-metre backstroke. Other Amazings include 105-year-old LaVerne Biser who has traveled the world over the years to view 15 eclipses including the one earlier this year and horse trainer D. Wayne Lukas, 89, who won his 15th Triple Crown race in May when "Seize the Grey" won the Preakness.

"Meet The Amazings features a few famous people making their mark, but Amazings are people who aren't famous but who are still learning, setting goals, who have a passion and just enjoying life," says Dr. Noelle Nelson, a psychologist and author who researches Amazings to feature on the page. "They are publishing novels, competing in sports, continuing to work doing the things they love. You name it and older folks are doing it."

Nelson, author of The Longevity Secret has been posting stories about "Amazings" on the Facebook page since 2016.

"The page features Amazings from around the world," she says. "They may have experienced severe hardships, heartbreaking loss or serious health issues during their lives. Despite life's difficulties, I've found that the common thread through all Amazings is that they appreciate every day and live each day to the fullest."

Research (https://www.nia.nih.gov/news/optimism-linked-longevity-and-well-being-two-recent-studies) constantly points out the value of an "Amazing" attitude. Nelson says there are lessons to learn from older generations. "Amazings don't let obstacles get in their way," she explains. "They may not be able to do all the things they did when they were younger, but that doesn't stop them from setting new goals and figuring out how to reach them. They understand that life is a precious gift. What a wonderful attitude. It's a guiding principle we can all embrace no matter our age."
