OsteoStrong Oakville and Toronto join nationwide effort to raise awareness during OsteoOctober and World Osteoporosis Day

TORONTO - eTradeWire -- Every day, thousands of Canadians experience fractures caused by osteoporosis, a disease that often remains undetected until a break occurs. This October, OsteoOctober invites Canadians to take action and reclaim their bone health.

Powered by OsteoStrong® Canada, OsteoOctober is a nationwide awareness and action campaign designed to prevent bone loss and empower individuals with practical, science-backed strategies for lifelong skeletal strength.

Osteoporosis affects more than 2.3 million Canadians, most of whom are women over 50. The disease can lead to decreased mobility, chronic pain, and loss of independence, yet it is both preventable and treatable.

"Osteoporosis isn't inevitable," says Harleen Laroia, Owner of OsteoStrong Oakville and Toronto. "With consistent lifestyle interventions, like resistance training, osteogenic loading, and balanced nutrition, people can improve bone density at any age."

Throughout October, OsteoStrong Oakville and Toronto will offer complimentary bone health consultations, educational newsletters, and community engagement opportunities encouraging people to learn more about bone health and prevention. Visit https://www.osteostrong.ca/osteooctober to participate or learn more.

The campaign highlights five key actions for bone strength and longevity:
  1. Get screened – Book a bone density scan or consultation.
  2. Move for your bones – Engage in resistance or weight-bearing activity, such as walking, climbing, or osteogenic loading.
  3. Fuel with purpose – Prioritize calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, and K2.
  4. Build better habits – Limit smoking, reduce alcohol intake, and maintain balance and posture.
  5. Join the conversation – Follow and share bone health stories using #OsteoOctober and #StrongerBonesForLife.

This October, OsteoStrong Oakville and OsteoStrong Toronto are joining OsteoOctober to bring bone health awareness to their local communities. Throughout the month, they will offer free or discounted bone health consultations, educational newsletters on nutrition, exercise, and fall prevention, and social media campaigns encouraging community participation.

World Osteoporosis Day – October 20, 2025

In addition to OsteoOctober, World Osteoporosis Day is observed internationally on October 20 to raise awareness about osteoporosis and fracture prevention. Organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) — https://www.osteoporosis.foundation/ — the day highlights the importance of bone health, early prevention, and proactive care for all ages.

To mark the occasion, OsteoStrong Oakville and Toronto will host special events and offer resources designed to help women 50+ strengthen their bones and maintain quality of life.

"World Osteoporosis Day is a reminder that bone health is a global concern," adds Laroia. "It's an opportunity for our local communities to take meaningful action toward prevention and strength."

By participating in OsteoOctober and World Osteoporosis Day, OsteoStrong Oakville and Toronto aim to spark a larger conversation about bone health — one that empowers Canadians to move confidently, live actively, and age strong.
