A 2020 Sumer Olympic dream ahead but it will come with a high price tag.

MORGANVILLE, N.J. - eTradeWire -- American Olympic Sabre Fencing medalist, Monica Aksamit, has recently returned home to the United States from her successful competitions in the 2019 Pan Am Games in Peru.  At this pre-Olympic competition there were 12 medal events contested in men's and women's divisions.  Individuals and teams competed in the three disciplines of fencing; épée (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89p%C3%A9e), foil (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foil_(fencing) and sabre (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabre_(fencing).  A total of 156 fencers qualified to compete.  Team USA was the leader in the medal count with a total of 10 Gold and 1 Bronze.  Monica's teammates, Chloe Fox-Gitomer and Anne-Elizabeth Stone, were included in this Gold medal count in their sabre trio team efforts.

Fresh off this Gold Medal win, Aksamit has set her sights on the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.  This means an all-out training assault. She will be facing a thick field of competition. There are 200 quota spots for fencing at the 2020 Summer Olympics.  The host country is guaranteed 8 quota spots.  To make Team USA, she must qualify in 6 World Cups and 4 domestic tournaments.

As you can well imagine, this intense training and dedication to an Olympic dream will require endless hours of travel and training. Monica lives in New Jersey and trains with fencing coach Yury Gelman at the Manhattan Fencing Center, NYC.  She will be spending a minimum of 3 hours in the gym on strength/endurance conditioning, four days a week.  She will spend 5 hours in drilling in the art of fencing with Coach Gelman four to five days a week.  This leaves only Sundays to enjoy her family and her beloved dogs. "Monica has always been a fighter and passionate about this sport.  I foresee great things from her this season" said Gelman.

With this kind of training schedule, there is limited time to source income.   Ms. Aksamit has established a GO FUND ME campaign to offset the expenses of her 2020 Olympic quest and to allow her supporters the opportunity to contribute.

"To have a dedication to a sport and to represent one's country on the International stage takes a fortitude many of us can only imagine," stated Aksamit.   Her Olympic passion is to be admired. Most get the Olympic experience through television. We revel in our civic pride when America bring home medals.  This young American is LIVING her dream.
