Emerald Lake Books Releases "Charlie's Big Problem," a Gentle Story for Children Learning to Navigate Anxiety
SHERMAN, Conn. - eTradeWire -- Emerald Lake Books proudly announces the release of Charlie's Big Problem: A Story About Anxiety, a beautifully illustrated children's book by first-time author Anne Haubert, with artwork by Reina Rey. Written for ages 4–8, this timely story gives families and educators a relatable, reassuring way to explore childhood anxiety and resilience.
In Charlie's Big Problem, young Charlie finds his anxiety growing into something so big it keeps him awake at night. But with the loving support of his mother—and a little imagination—Charlie learns that even the biggest problems can become small and gentle with the right perspective. Conversation starters included at the end of the book make it an ideal resource for parents, teachers and therapists eager to open important discussions about feelings.
"As a marriage and family therapist, I've spent years helping people of all ages communicate about their emotions in calm, constructive ways," said Haubert. "I wrote this book because so many children today are facing stress and anxiety, and I wanted to offer a simple, comforting story that helps them—and the adults who care for them—see that they aren't alone."

Educators, mental health professionals, and parents have already praised Charlie's Big Problem (https://emeraldlakebooks.com/charlie) as an essential tool. Former assistant principal Louise Hanrahan calls it "beautifully written and illustrated," noting that it "normalizes anxiety in a way that is both accessible and reassuring for young children." Maria Aresco, a registered play therapist, adds: "It reframes worry into something more manageable and empowering. This book will definitely become a valuable part of my bibliotherapy collection."
When Tara R. Alemany, publisher at Emerald Lake Books (https://emeraldlakebooks.com), first received Anne Haubert's submission, she immediately recognized how needed a story like this was—because one of her own children has wrestled with anxiety since they were small. "It's exactly the kind of book I wish we'd had years ago to help start conversations and show that those big, scary feelings can be understood and managed," Alemany said. "It's a privilege to bring Anne's work to the families and classrooms that need it most."
