NATIONAL CENTER FOR HOMEOPATHY supports the HHS Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force Report

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MOUNT LAUREL, New Jersey September 20, 2019.

The NATIONAL CENTER FOR HOMEOPATHY (NCH) supports the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force Report, released in May 2019. The Report is consistent with the NCH and other national health agency findings, such as the National Institutes for Health National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on nonpharmacologic therapies for pain. The Report identified gaps and inconsistencies in pain management and offered recommendations for improving pain management best practices.

Homeopathy is recognized as an effective non-pharmacologic method for pain management. It provides a safe, gentle, and natural system of healing with none of the side effects of many conventional medications. Homeopathy is a federally-recognized form of medicine and regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. NCH provides education and builds awareness while advocating for access to homeopathy as a safe, effective, and affordable system of medicine. We support the Task Force Report's emphasis on multidisciplinary approaches that utilize one or more treatment modalities to address the causal continuum model of health care. This includes promotion, prevention, treatment and recovery, and is an evidence-based strategy for addressing the opioid crisis.

The report focused on individualized patient-centered care fostering a therapeutic alliance between the patient and clinician which is an underlying principle of homeopathic treatment. NCH supports the Task Force's recommendations based on the 2016 Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain released by the CDC for broad treatment strategies to pain management that are reinforced by four factors: Risk Assessment; Stigma; Access to Care; and Education.

A philosophical and cultural shift to focus on addressing chronic and acute pain by utilizing complementary and integrative health approaches such as homeopathy has proven effective and is widely supported by academic and investigative research, clinical trials, and case studies in all healthcare settings.

NCH applauds and wholeheartedly supports the HHS Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force Report and looks forward to the implementation of multidisciplinary nonpharmacologic pain therapies. http://www.homeopathycenter.org
