CUMBERLAND, Md. - eTradeWire -- Mountain Maryland Plein Air Event
CUMBERLAND — The Allegany Arts Council announced the names of 30 artists who will participate in the 2025 Mountain Maryland Plein Air event in June.
Award-winning artist, Stewart White, is the juror for this year's event. "The competition for this local event is very tough, and we have painters from around the country and Canada this year!," said Patricia Hilton, chair of the plein air committee.
The artists in this year's event are: Lissa Abrams, Sarah Baptist, Bruno Baran, Krystal Brown, Thomas Bucci, John Caggiano, Carol Cowie, David Diaz, Ronaldo Dorado, John Eiseman, Alex Eisenzopf, Tarryl Gabel, Rachel Garcia-Palmer, Meg Goetz, Sam Guindon, Ray Hussard, Hai-Ou Hou, Russell Jewell, Rajendra KC, Christopher Leeper, Elaine Lisle, Patrick Mcphee, Steven Plaziak, Robin Roberts, William Rogers, Marjorie Shanks, David Smith, Richard Sneary, Amy Waldrop and Rokhaya Waring.

During Mountain Maryland Plein Air, which takes place from June 9 through June 15, thirty plein air artists come to our area to paint in the open air for a week. They are allowed to paint anywhere in Garrett & Allegany County, Maryland.
On Wednesday, June 11th Arcadian Gallery on Baltimore Street will host a free reception called "Wet Paint Wall," "We love the idea showing freshly painted plein air art in the Gallery," said Chris Sloan, Director of the Arcadian Gallery. "We're having a reception on June 11 at 6 pm," he continued, "but people can visit the Gallery any time between 11 and 6, Tuesday to Saturday of Plein Air week."
Friday June 13th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm is the Collectors Reception held at the Allegany Museum. This is where the prizes are announced and artwork may be purchased. This event requires a ticket which can be purchased through the Allegany Arts Council.
Saturday, June 14th is a free public exhibition at the Allegany Museum from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Also Saturday morning is the popular free event called the Quick Draw. This event is just as its name implies, how quickly can you draw?? Anyone my register on site to try their hand at this fast fun event. Bring your paints, pastels, charcoals or even your crayons. Registration is from 9-10am on Pershing Street near the Museum with the Quick Draw starting at 10:00 am until 12:00 noon! Prizes will be awarded, and paintings for sale.

Finally on Sunday, June 15th Stewart White will do a painting demonstration at the C. William Gilchrist Museum, on Washington Street. This demonstration is free to the public, but requires pre-registration thru Allegany Arts Council.
