Michigan Drivers Face Serious Consequences for Driving Without a Valid License
eTradeWire News/10824031
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - eTradeWire -- MILicenseLawyer.com reminds Michigan drivers that operating a vehicle without a valid license can lead to serious criminal and administrative penalties—and that anyone facing suspension or revocation should take immediate steps toward driver's license restoration in Michigan.
Under Michigan law, driving with a suspended or revoked license (DWLS/DWLR) is a misdemeanor offense punishable by up to 93 days in jail and fines of up to $500 for a first conviction. Repeat offenses can result in up to one year in jail, $1,000 in fines, and possible vehicle impoundment. These convictions create a permanent criminal record that cannot be expunged.
Even drivers who have never been issued a license face up to 90 days in jail and additional fines. Beyond criminal penalties, offenders may face higher insurance rates, longer suspension periods, and difficulty reinstating driving privileges.

"Many people don't realize that driving on a suspended or revoked license is a criminal matter, not a minor traffic ticket," said Dan Geherin, a Michigan driver's license attorney. "Taking steps toward driver's license restoration early can prevent further complications and help clients get back on the road legally."
The Michigan Secretary of State oversees the restoration process, which may include hearings, documentation, and proof of rehabilitation. Because the process can be complex, professional legal assistance is often essential to achieving success.
