PHILADELPHIA - eTradeWire -- In a bold move to strengthen community-police relations, the 16th Police District is set to host its 8th Annual Promise Zone Community Fun Day on Friday, July 19, 2024. This free event, running from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the 39th & Olive Street Playground, showcases the department's unwavering commitment to community policing and public safety.

The event boasts an impressive array of activities designed to appeal to residents of all ages. Highlights include spirited basketball competitions, a vibrant children's village, and captivating performances by local artists. "This day is about more than just fun and games," explains NAC Coordinator Lorraine Gomez of Mount Vernon Manor CDC. "It's about breaking down barriers, building trust, and showing our community that we're here to serve."

In addition to fostering better community relations, the event has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $3,500. These funds will be used to purchase much-needed school supplies and sneakers for youth in the Mantua neighborhood, further demonstrating the organization's commitment to supporting local families and education.
