OTTAWA, Ontario - eTradeWire -- The "Lean: improve flow" is now available on YouTube. It is the second in the Alpen Path Solutions Lean Learning Series.

World-renowned Lean coach and author France Bergeron indicated she "is proud to help more people access Lean training videos". She added, "I wish I had had access to such resources when I was starting on my Lean journey. It's important to learn the fundamentals of Lean". She encourages viewers to start their Lean journey by observing their own work, no matter their level. Bergeron comments, "Lean is not at all about improving others, it's about developing a culture of excellent where each and every individual is developed to be the best at what they do and able to understand how they work in order to continuously improve the flow of value to customers".

The video provides a definition for flow and how to be deliberate about HOW we engage in work every day. Using a scientific management approach such as Lean means that what is deemed as an improvement must also be explicitly defined. In Lean organizations, work is made visible, measured and improved as flow. Flow is energy moving through a system. An improvement means that the flow of value to customers must be faster, easier and cheaper flow (cheaper in energy, not money). Flow is mostly measured with time and quality metrics.
