Lawrence Law Firm Partner Coaches Central Catholic High School Mock Trial Team for Third Consecutive Season
eTradeWire News/10834385
Yolla Sabounji, Esq., partner at Frawley & Sabounji Law Group, volunteers her legal expertise as attorney coach for the Central Catholic High School Mock Trial Team. Her commitment to the Lawrence community has helped the Raiders develop into a competitive program, including back-to-back undefeated regular seasons.
LAWRENCE, Mass. - eTradeWire -- The Law Office of Robert E. Frawley is proud to recognize firm partner Yolla Sabounji, Esq. for her ongoing volunteer service as the attorney coach for the Central Catholic High School Mock Trial Team. Now in her third consecutive season with the program, Atty. Sabounji has played a central role in building one of the Merrimack Valley's most competitive high school mock trial programs.
The Central Catholic Mock Trial Team competes in the Massachusetts Bar Association's statewide Mock Trial Program, which has operated since 1985 and draws thousands of student participants annually. Coached by Atty. Sabounji alongside faculty moderator and Social Studies Teacher Mr. Brian Flaherty, the Raiders posted undefeated regular season records in each of the program's first two years under her coaching. This season, the team competed strongly through the regional rounds before falling in a tie-breaker trial that decided their advancement.

The 2024–2025 season opened with a win over Methuen High School, 100–94, on January 16, 2025, at the Lawrence District Court in the Fenton Judicial Center, followed by a second victory over Billerica Memorial High School on January 30, 2025. This season's fictional case, a civil matter styled Alex Parker v. Devon Roy, centered on social host liability and personal injury — legal issues that Atty. Sabounji handles regularly in her professional practice.
In November 2024, Atty. Sabounji accompanied the team to a Mock Trial Seminar at Harvard University, hosted by the Harvard Undergraduate Mock Trial Team and attended by students from across the United States. The Raiders attended lectures on courtroom procedure and participated in a scrimmage against American Heritage High School of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sharpening their skills ahead of the regional competitions.
"Coaching the CCHS Mock Trial Team has been one of the most meaningful things I do outside the office," said Atty. Sabounji. "Win or lose, every student on this team grows — in confidence, in critical thinking, and in their understanding of how the legal system works. I'm proud of everything this team has accomplished and look forward to continuing to build this program."
