MSOs are organizations that provide a variety of administrative functions for healthcare providers on a contract basis, freeing up caregivers so that they can concentrate on their core mission of rendering care to patients.

Services include such routine but time-consuming tasks as billing, human resources issues, payroll, benefits determination, liaison with insurers, coding, regulatory compliance, risk management, and other non-medical but essential work.
