Kwanzaa Deserves Some Love Too

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - eTradeWire -- Podcasters, Phyllis G. Williams and LaTricia Smith launched their first children's book "The Journey to Nguzo Saba" designed to teach children the seven principles of Kwanzaa in a fun, adventurous and unique way. The story was inspired by Phyllis' difficulty remembering the seven principles. The paperback is available for purchase on Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/Journey-Nguzo-Saba-Kwanz...), barnesandnoble.com and booksamillion.com It was officially released on November 1, 2022.
On December 28, 2020, Phyllis G. Williams was determined to remember the Kwanzaa principles, their meaning, and order by the next year. She thought about flashcards, games, and other activities. She did a quick search, but there wasn't anything on the market. Finally, she picked up her phone and pressed voice record. She hesitated," There was a girl named Umoja…..."
Umoja visited her elders. She faced some problems and had unique experiences on her adventure. All the solutions and memorable experiences centered around the Kwanzaa principles. Phyllis shared the recording with LaTricia and the two collaborated and created (after many edits) "The Journey to Nguzo Saba: A Kwanzaa Story."

Christmas gets lots of love. Many people grew up reciting 'Twas The Night Before Christmas and performing it in plays. We even turn on our TVs immediately after Halloween to begin binge-watching Christmas movies." I say 'we' because, being a giver and spiritual Christian, I'm moved by the theme of Christmas, which is love, peace, and faith." Phyllis stated.
Kwanzaa isn't a religious holiday, but rather a cultural holiday. How many teachers have Kwanzaa books in their classrooms? How many parents read Kwanzaa books to their children?
Whether you are new to Kwanzaa or have practiced for several years, this adventurous story will have you at the edge of your seat. The representation of the characters and essence of Kwanzaa will make your heart swell with pride. In addition, the vivid and smooth illustrations will foster the imagination of the storytelling approach. The unique twist with this book is that you follow a plot and learn another cultural component while reading.
LaTricia Smith and Phyllis G. Williams are coauthors and cohosts of the podcast, Living the Principles. This new project allows them to teach adults through the airwaves and the youth through the pages. Their mission remains the same "empower, educate, and edify black excellence through Kwanzaa principles."
