Kosinima, Inc. Unveils Third Cohort Of Grantees, Expanding Global Footprint For Black Filmmakers
eTradeWire News/10807077
KOSINIMA, Inc. announces the third cycle of its flagship initiative, the KOSINIMA Short Film Grant, which directly funds short films created by Black women filmmakers across Africa and the African diaspora.
NEW YORK - eTradeWire -- "KOSINIMA, Inc. exists because I believe Black creatives deserve more than opportunity. We deserve ownership, we deserve compensation, and we deserve global impact. With every grant cycle, we're building a cinematic future that looks like us, sounds like us, and belongs to us."
— Oluwaseun Babalola, Founder and Executive Director of KOSINIMA, Inc.
Nonprofit disruptor KOSINIMA, Inc. (pronounced "Co-Cinema") is making waves again. Founded by award-winning filmmaker and Emmy-nominated producer Oluwaseun Babalola, KOSINIMA, Inc. announces the third cycle of its flagship initiative, the KOSINIMA Short Film Grant, which directly funds short films created by Black women filmmakers across Africa and the African diaspora with $2500 toward production or post-production.

The Cycle 3 grantees are:
Nondumiso Masache (Ladies Race, South Africa), Amandla Jahava (Nonviable, U.S.A), Kiara Lauren Johnson (Sonder, U.S.A.)
Past visionary cohorts/grantees include standout directors like Zahri Josita Jackson (In My Garden, U.S.), Lydia Matata (Pepo Kali, Kenya), Aderonke Adeola (Model Citizen, Nigeria), Caroline Renard (Unbraided, U.S.), Felene Cayetano (Afieni (Faith), Belize), Wanjeri Gakuru (Transaction, Kenya), and Mariana Luiza Macedo (One Century, Three Generations, Brazil) with all films executive produced by Babalola.
KOSINIMA, Inc. was born from necessity: the glaring gap in funding, resources, and access for Black creatives in entertainment. More than just grants, KOSINIMA, Inc. nurtures a radical shift in mindset, encouraging innovation, confidence, and global collaboration between Africa and its diaspora.
