Knobull Helps Smooth The Job Choice Process
eTradeWire News/10757349
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - eTradeWire -- Lynn Bentley, President of Knobull announced, "Many are looking for a job and apply for a bunch of positions. One searcher reported they have been on 17 interviews for several jobs."
One took a job at a startup. The startup five months later shut down and was laid off. Then launched a new round of applying and interviewing. This led to another job, which was a terrible fit.
Having so many interviews can mean trouble
Many are thinking: "Is this really the best way to determine whether you're a good fit for a job — having a couple of 30-minute conversations? Many times the job is such a bad fit."
You always have to be on
It's not like you can ever be casual when you're trying to get a job. You're always performing. And you always have to be on because they're evaluating you. And yeah, sure, you're evaluating them. But the stakes are not even.

In another case, a job was the top choice. But for some reason, when that happened, it really just left a sour taste. It can be a turn off because you feel though you're wasting time. How much more do you need?
It's a total crapshoot
Ultimately, it can be a total crapshoot of whether that person actually does what they say they do, or whether they're just good at interviewing. Or, like in many cases, where maybe they made the job sound really great.
Companies have wanted to spread the decision beyond just the hiring manager. But it feels like we've overextended. Do you really need 10 colleagues' opinions?
Getting support at Knobull from a career coach like JobStars can help you streamline this process. Taking edX courses can also expand options.
Bentley concluded, "Everybody's tightened their budgets and hiring is much harder. Now many managers only get a budget for one and clearly everybody's worried about making a mistake on a hire. There stretching this process out with too many steps."
