KLM Enterprises Services LLC Announces the Closure of 9.0 The Underground Radio Station
eTradeWire News/10781313
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - eTradeWire -- KLM Enterprises Services LLC has officially announced the closure of its long-running radio station, 9.0 The Underground, citing challenges such as low advertising revenue and a sharp 200% drop in listenership over the past three years. The station, which began broadcasting in 2014, has been a staple for indie and mainstream music fans alike, featuring global DJs such as DJ Skroog Mk Duck, DJ Alex, and many others.
La'Nardo Myrick, the station's founder, expressed his regret over the decision but emphasized the necessity of the move, stating, "This was a great station, and we are proud of what we achieved over the years. Unfortunately, we could no longer sustain the costs required to maintain 9.0 The Underground, as listenership simply wasn't enough to keep us going."
The station, well-known for popular shows like The Big Will Show, Drink Champs, and the Sheryl Underwood Show, struggled to recover after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of several major programs, including Sheryl Underwood. The show accounted for 50% of the station's audience, and its departure marked a significant blow to the station's overall listenership.

Additionally, the rise of indie radio DJs transitioning into podcasting, as well as the retirement of longtime DJ Kenni Starr, further contributed to the decline in the station's programming lineup.
Despite these challenges, La'Nardo Myrick took a moment to express gratitude to all those who supported 9.0 The Underground over the years. "We'd like to thank all the partners we've worked with, from Nobex to other app platforms, for their dedication to our station. While this chapter closes, the relationships and the incredible music we shared will be remembered fondly."
9.0 The Underground had been known for offering 24/7 programming, promoting indie and mainstream music from around the world. It will certainly be missed by listeners and industry partners alike.
