Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley Teams With NBC Bay Area, Safeway for Annual Food Drive
eTradeWire News/10819713
Volunteers will be out in force on Saturday, November 15, encouraging shoppers to donate
DANVILLE, Calif. - eTradeWire -- The Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley (Kiwanis SRV) is once again teaming up with NBC Bay Area, Safeway grocery stores, and Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano to support the 16th annual Nourishing Neighbors Food Drive, running now through the end of 2025.
As a part of the campaign, NBC Bay Area and Safeway are conducting a united one-day food drive push on Saturday, November 15, when thousands of volunteers will be standing outside Safeway grocery stores throughout the Bay Area encouraging shoppers to make donations at the check-out counter to help combat hunger and food insecurity among our neighbors in need.
Kiwanis SRV is coordinating a team of more than 30 volunteers, including members of Kiwanis SRV, high school Key Club, National Charity League, Scouting America, and other community organizations, who will be outside four San Ramon Valley Safeway stores engaging shoppers, distributing flyers, and encouraging people to donate $10 toward the campaign at the check-out counter.

From 10am to 2pm, Kiwanis SRV volunteers will be outside the Safeway stores in Alamo at 200 Alamo Plaza; in Blackhawk at 3496 Camino Tassajara; and in San Ramon at both 2505 San Ramon Valley Blvd, and 11050 Bollinger Canyon Road.
Donating is as simple as asking the cashier to scan a bar code identifying the donated amount, which is added to the receipt. Donations benefit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, a long-time partner of Kiwanis SRV and hunger relief organization for the San Ramon Valley.
"We are incredibly grateful for all the Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley does for our organization," said Caitlin Sly, President & CEO, Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. "They have supported us for many years, and we could not do our work without them. Their yearly commitment to making the Nourishing Neighbors campaign a success ensures the people we serve have a meal this holiday season."
"Outside the stores, we remind shoppers that, while it's the season of celebration and giving thanks, there are still so many people in our own neighborhoods in need of something as basic as food," said Nancy Bray, chair of the Kiwanis SRV 2025 Food Drive. "There are no food barrels — donations are made inside, at the cash register, making it easy to do so much for so many. In San Ramon Valley, our donations benefit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, who is there, every day, helping people who are hungry, who are desperate, and who are in need of a helping hand."
