With travel restrictions in place across the globe, this new episode of GrizzCast takes listeners at home on a remote bear-viewing trip to the Yukon wilderness to meet trophy hunting guide turned bear-viewing guide, Phil Timpany

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - eTradeWire -- The Grizzly Bear Foundation has just launched the second episode of their new podcast series, GrizzCast, hosted by Executive Director Nicholas Scapillati. Inspired by the fight to protect an iconic symbol of the North American wild - the grizzly bear - this narrative, fact-based show explores how the fates of humans, grizzly bears, and the natural world are all connected.

"Legacy" features a riverside interview with former trophy hunting guide Phil Timpany at the base of Bear Cave Mountain in Yukon's Ni'iinlii Njik (Fishing Branch) Territorial Park. Here in the traditional territory of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Phil started the first and only bear-viewing operation in the Yukon and gained his reputation as "the bear whisperer of North Yukon."

"As we watched a mother grizzly and her cubs fish for spawning salmon in this remarkable piece of wilderness where people and bears have learned to peacefully coexist, Phil shared with me how he redefined his relationship with grizzlies after decades in the trophy hunting business, and how his work as a bear-viewing guide is connected to protecting an entire ecosystem," says host Nicholas Scapillati.

"I was responsible for a lot of grizzly bear deaths. I feel that I owe them. I'm really trying hard to pay that debt back and also in a respect to the animal being so intelligent and so able to understand what coexistence is with me," says Phil in the interview.

"By hearing Phil's story, we are inspired to reimagine what it means to be a conservationist, stirring our imagination for how we can all make space for the wild in our lives," says Nicholas.
