Artists from around the world launch new design initiative, creating wearable symbols of solidarity for Australia's bushfires

ADELAIDE, Australia - eTradeWire -- An international collective of big-hearted creatives have come together from around the world, putting their artistic talents to use to assist with Australia's bushfire recovery.

The initiative, called Bearhugs for Australia, has been established as a way for the international community to proudly display their support and solidarity for their mates Down Under. The collective has produced a growing range of creative apparel and accessories for sale online, with 100% profits going to charities supporting the Australian bushfire relief & recovery efforts.

"A bearhug is given to our mates with great enthusiasm, both as a greeting and as a way of showing empathy and care." says the project's founder, South Australian Creative Director/Designer, Jeremy DV Boyd. "By purchasing and wearing a piece of our apparel, people are sending a bearhug to those affected by the Australian bushfires."

The group includes artists, illustrators and graphic designers from as far afield as Sweden, Romania, UK, USA, and Mexico, as well as from across Australia. Each individual artist has created designs representing the core values of solidarity, mateship, support and hope for those affected by the bushfires, expressed in their own unique style.

The World Wildlife Fund has estimated approx 1.25 billion animals have been killed across Australia in the recent fires, as well as 12 million hectares of land burned, with at least 32 lives and over 2,700 homes lost.

Profits raised through the initiative will go to registered charity organisations working actively on Australia's bushfire recovery in the areas of wildlife rescue, landcare and volunteer country fire services.
