Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance to host 'Move-in Celebration' at new apartment complex in Immokalee

Aug. 23 event showcases community's newest apartment community
IMMOKALEE, Fla. - eTradeWire -- Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance is inviting community members to its Move-in Celebration, a family-friendly event on Aug. 23 that showcases the first of eight buildings at the nonprofit's new affordable apartment community in Immokalee.
The Move-in Celebration begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 at the new community, located at the northwest corner of Lake Trafford Road and N. 19th Street in Immokalee. RSVPs are not required. The celebration will include remarks from project and community leaders, refreshments and tours of the new building, which includes 16 two- and three-bedroom units.
Once completed, the yet-to-be-named community will feature 128 units. Construction is being funded primarily through grants and private philanthropic support.
"We want future residents and community members to see firsthand that safe, affordable housing is now available in Immokalee thanks to support from so many caring individuals, organizations and local businesses," said Arol Buntzman, chairman and CEO of the Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance. "For far too long, hardworking families have been stuck in dilapidated shacks and trailers, often ridden with insects and mold, because they had no other options. The completion of this building will offer hope to parents who simply want – and deserve – to raise their children in decent, affordable housing."

The first residents will move into their units shortly after the community celebration.
Once complete, the community will feature eight apartment buildings and 128 units built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane, along with a community center for meetings, after-school programs, health care assistance and more. Plans also call for an on-site soccer field and additional amenities.
FineMark Bank and Florida Blue are sponsoring the Move-in Celebration and ribbon-cutting event.
