The Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Economic Development is given in recognition of a lifelong commitment to excellence in economic development.

WASHINGTON - eTradeWire -- The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is truly honored to posthumously present the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Economic Development to our colleague and friend, Victor Grgas. On November 9, 2021, Victor Grgas passed away after a long battle with cancer.

"Victor was not only a past chair of IEDC, but he was a great friend," says IEDC President & CEO Jeff Finkle, "His extraordinary career, commitment to public service, and lasting professional relationships will ensure that his legacy lives on. IEDC is truly honored to posthumously present this award to his family, represented by Jeffrey Grgas."

"The Honorary Committee was honored to bestow the Lifetime Achievement Award to Victor posthumously. We were astounded by the achievements and friendships he built throughout his life," adds Craig Richard, President and CEO of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council and past IEDC Board Chair.

Victor Grgas had over 35 years of public sector experience including serving as both an elected official and as a professional staff person. His experience also spanned private real estate consulting, brokerage, and economic and community development. He was a nationally recognized expert in economic development land-use planning, governmental relations, business recruitment, public-private partnership negotiations, and large-scale commercial real estate development. Mr. Grgas' dedication to the field can be seen in his remarkable career and the relationships built in the field.

Mr. Grgas was a member of the board of directors, past-President, and an Honorary Life Member of IEDC. He was also a charter member and past-President of the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) and a recipient of its lifetime achievement award, The Golden Bear.
