Historic Turkish Diaspore Gemstone Hits the Market

eTradeWire News/10789865
EDMONTON, Alberta - eTradeWire -- A Canadian entrepreneur has listed for sale one of the largest and most exquisite Turkish Diaspore gemstones ever discovered, on eBay-owned Canadian classified site KIJIJI.CA.

This rare and valuable gemstone, known for its unique color-changing properties, is a true treasure for museums and investors alike. The Turkish Diaspore, weighing an impressive 73.88 carats, is one of the largest in the world. It is a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship and expertise of its cutters. Its unique shield shape and exceptional clarity make it a true masterpiece of nature.

The owner, initially sought to obtain the valuation from Canadian gemologists, however due to its rarity and size they were unable to determine its value. He then connected with one of the most accomplished and renowned gemologist/appraisers: Ms. Deborah Villepigue in New York, USA. Ms. Villepigue, whose clients include Paris Hilton and Lady Gaga, appraised the Canadian's diaspore at over 7.7 million USD.

Ms. Villepigue, when asked about the tremendous value of this gemstone, explains: "Turkish diaspore is sourced from a just a single location: the Anatolia region of Turkey. One of its most unique features is its color-change effect, a characteristic it shares with gems like Alexandrite. This phenomenon, known as pleochroism, is highly prized by collectors and increases the gemstone's value. This 73.88 carat Turkish Diaspore is extremely rare. High-quality stones above 5 carats are already rare, a gemstone of nearly 74 carats is remarkable and likely one of the largest cut specimens in existence."

When asked about its value for investment, Ms. Villepigue replied, "this 73.88 carat Diaspore would be considered a collector's item. Large, high-quality specimens are seen as investment pieces, as their value tends to appreciate over time, especially as demand grows and supply remains limited to Turkish mines."

When the owner was asked why he was offering it for sale, he replied, "The time is right for it to be treasured and held for posterity by an institution or passionate investor." This incredible gemstone is a rare opportunity for investors, institutions, and collectors to own a piece of history.
