Help for Sweetie: Urgent Fundraising Campaign to End Forced Labor and Provide Medical Aid
eTradeWire News/10777176
A life-changing initiative to rescue a Filipino woman from a forced labor contract in Hong Kong and raise awareness about human trafficking.
CHARLESTON, S.C. - eTradeWire -- Help for Sweetie, a heartfelt fundraising campaign, aims to raise $15,000 USD to free Sweetie, a Filipino woman trapped in a forced labor contract in Hong Kong. The funds will cover her contract buyout, medical expenses, transportation back to the Philippines, and living expenses for six months to allow her to heal and reunite with her daughter after 14 years.
Matthew Guilbault, INHC, Sweetie's campaign manager and fiancé, spearheads the initiative, highlighting the urgent need for support. "In the past eight months, 11 women have died due to the harsh conditions in Hong Kong, with five suicides linked to severe anxiety and depression. Sweetie urgently needs medical care, including x-rays for her back," Guilbault explains.
This campaign also seeks the assistance of investigative journalists to expose Sweetie's story and shed light on the broader issue of forced labor and human trafficking in Asia. By sharing Sweetie's journey, the campaign aims to raise awareness and funds to combat these injustices. Sweetie plans to share her experience through a book and video updates, with proceeds supporting organizations dedicated to protecting human rights.
