HILLSBOROUGH, Fla. - eTradeWire -- Halfacre Construction Company (http://www.halfacreconstruction.com/), a Lakewood Ranch-based commercial construction company, recently donated $1,000 to Nicole Golden, Hillsborough teacher and president of HABSE, the local chapter of the National Alliance of Black School Educators (https://www.nabse.org/) (NABSE), to help fund her trip to Washington D.C. to serve as a panelist for The White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence and Economic Opportunity for Black Americans.
"I am so grateful for this opportunity to bring together minds that can create solutions for black educators," said Golden. "This effort to address inequalities in the classroom in Hillsborough County Public Schools and nationwide is significant. These solutions won't happen without amazing community partners like Halfacre Construction Company, who support and lift up the work of HABSE & NABSE."

The commercial construction company's director of community and business diversity, Eric Graham, met Golden three years ago during his time working with Hillsborough County Public Schools.
"Halfacre has been supporting and celebrating education and HABSE for a long time in that it aligns with the organization's mission to help build communities and not just buildings," said Graham. "Ms. Golden is a great example of someone who is already building up the youth in our community in a very special way. Because of our shared values, we are proud to support her in this endeavor and know she will achieve great things."
The Celebration of Black Educator Excellence: Education as a Form of Resistance event that Golden was a panelist for took place on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at the Bernard auditorium, located in the U.S. Department of Education in Washington D.C.
The event celebrated the resilience, innovation and achievements of black educators in history and facilitated conversation among participating individuals, institutions and organizations interested in engaging relevant stakeholders about the White House initiative.
